In Kansas City, Missouri, U.S. men’s national team goalkeeper Matt Turner will start in the crucial Copa América group stage game against Uruguay on Monday. Gio Reyna is set to start on the right wing in place of the suspended Tim Weah, with Yunus Musah joining him in central midfield. Uruguay’s lineup remains unchanged from their 5-0 victory over Bolivia, with U.S. coach Gregg Berhalter anticipating they would field their strongest team.
Turner suffered a leg injury in the Americans’ 2-1 loss to Panama but there is hope he will be fit to play against La Celeste. Berhalter mentioned Turner was limited in training over the weekend and his condition will continue to be monitored.
