This week, we have five incredible athletes who have shown their skills and talents in various sports. It’s time to vote for The Courier Journal’s girls athlete of the week. Voting is currently open and will close at 6 p.m. on Thursday. The winner will be announced on Friday.

Let’s start with Ellie Beam from Kentucky Country Day, who had an outstanding performance in lacrosse this season. She scored five goals and added three assists to lead her team to victory over Eastern in the Kentucky Scholastic Lacrosse League title game. This win marked the program’s 10th title in history, which is a remarkable achievement.

Next, we have Grace Bethel, a freshman from Male, who made her mark in track and field by running the second-fastest 200 meters in the state this season with a time of 24.35 seconds at the Metro Meet of Champions. Her impressive performance showcases her talent and potential for success in the future.

Senior Brooke Bennett from North Oldham excelled in softball this season, hitting three home runs and driving in five RBIs to help her team secure a 13-6 victory over Marion County. Her leadership and skill on the field were instrumental in her team’s success.

Mabel George from Assumption broke her own personal record in track and field by winning the 800 meters at the Metro Meet of Champions with a time of 2 minutes, 14.79 seconds. Her dedication and hard work paid off as she achieved this impressive feat.

Finally, Sadie Hayes from Sacred Heart made an impact in softball this season, contributing five hits and seven RBIs to help her team achieve a 1-1 record. Her talent on the field was evident as she played a crucial role in her team’s success.
