The United States, Egypt, and Qatar are playing a crucial role in mediating negotiations between Israel and Hamas. A joint statement issued by the mediators called on both sides to reach agreements based on the terms proposed by US President Joe Biden. These terms aim to ease the situation for residents of the Gaza Strip and those who have been abducted and their families. The mediators believe that this agreement offers a roadmap to ending the crisis.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken recently had phone conversations with senior representatives from several Arab states, including Qatar’s Prime Minister and Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister. During these talks, President Biden discussed his proposal for a long-term truce between Israel and Hamas. He urged Arab states to put pressure on Hamas to accept these terms and work towards a resolution.

Despite the challenges faced by both sides, there is optimism among the mediators and key Arab states that they can help de-escalate the conflict and achieve lasting peace in the region through diplomatic efforts.
