Hello, A-J readers!

The final week of the month is always a whirlwind of business news, and this past week was no exception. We saw a downtown business close its doors, a historic pool in a nearby town get renovated, and got an exclusive look at a local vineyard.

One of the most popular articles from the week was about the closure of Burklee Hill Vineyards, located at 1109 Broadway. The upscale restaurant had been a beloved spot in downtown for four years before shutting its doors on June 1. However, despite the physical location closing, the winery will continue to exist online at burkleehillvineyards.com for the foreseeable future.

In more uplifting news, the community of Spur celebrated the reopening of Swenson Park Pool on Memorial Day after it had been closed for 15 years. Thanks to a promise made by Argo Blockchain in 2021, the pool was renovated as part of their Helios bitcoin mining facility in Dickens County. Despite changing ownership to Galaxy Digital Holdings, the promise was kept, and the pool’s reopening was attended by over 167 people.

Furthermore, we delved into Bingham Family Farms and Bingham Family Vineyards where Cliff Bingham shared his family’s farming history dating back to homesteading days around Meadow. With over 22 varieties of grapes under their belt, they have become leaders in Texas wine industry.

Looking ahead to next week, I will be interviewing a local franchisee who runs one of our city’s most popular spots known for their chili cheese fries. As May comes to an end get ready for our monthly business roundup. Thank you as always for your continued support and readership with A-J!
