In May, the Chattanooga area saw several new developments in the business world. Parkridge Hospital opened a new emergency room facility in Soddy-Daisy, featuring 12 beds, diagnostic capabilities, and support services. On the same note, Acme Fusion Cafe also opened its doors for business at Cambridge Square in Ooltewah.

Unfortunately, Food Works closed after 18 years of operation in the North Shore area, citing struggles to recover from the pandemic. However, on a positive note, Five Star Breaktime Solutions expanded by acquiring Van Vending Service Inc. in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Additionally, nonstop flights between Chattanooga and Las Vegas began at the Chattanooga Airport in May.

In terms of announced developments, ground was broken on a new Food City supermarket in Rhea County, set to open in spring 2025. Moreover, plans were announced for a new six-story headquarters building for Chattanooga Football Club in downtown’s Westside and a new South Broad District ballpark for the Chattanooga Lookouts were also revealed with play starting in 2026.

City officials began the process of hiring a contractor for the renovation of the Walnut Street Bridge and Rashad Jones-Jennings invested in building a $12 million residential development in Eastdale. Furthermore, a dual-brand Home2Suites and Tru by Hilton hotel will be built in Cleveland near Interstate 75.
