The defeat of Sergio Massa in the second round of Sunday’s presidential election has left him pondering whether to request leave from his position as Economy Minister. However, he is waiting for a meeting between current President Alberto Fernandez and president-elect Javier Milei before making any decisions.

According to official sources, this meeting is scheduled for Monday, which is a public holiday in Argentina, and it will take place at the presidential residence in Olivos on the outskirts of Buenos Aires. Javier Milei won the elections with 55.69% of the votes against Sergio Massa who received 44.30%.

Milei has stated that the Fernandez government is leaving behind a destroyed economy that is on the way to hyperinflation, as well as encountering problems in the exchange market, relative prices, and debts. After acknowledging his defeat, Massa communicated with Milei to congratulate him and proposed mechanisms for linking and transitioning democratic change.
