Marseille’s Vitinha is on the verge of completing a permanent move to Serie A side Genoa, according to a report from Fabrizio Romano. The 24-year-old struggled to meet expectations after arriving at Marseille for a record fee from SC Braga in January 2023.

With the arrival of new forwards, he found himself slipping down the pecking order and was loaned out to Genoa in January to seek more playing time and build his confidence. During his time in Italy, Vitinha scored two goals in Serie A, which impressed Genoa enough to want to keep him. Originally thought to be returning on loan, Romano now reports that the move will be permanent, with a fee of around €15m close to being agreed upon.

Marseille will also have a buy-back clause in the deal, giving them an option to bring Vitinha back in the future if they decide they need him back.
