In a major announcement, Marseille have appointed Roberto De Zerbi as their new head coach. The Italian coach, who previously managed Brighton, will be taking over at the Orange Vélodrome on a three-year contract.

The news comes after the Phocéens finished eighth in Ligue 1 last season and will be looking to improve their performance in the upcoming season. De Zerbi is known for his tactical acumen and ability to work with young players, which could prove to be a valuable asset for Marseille as they look to rebuild their squad.

In a statement, the club confirmed that an agreement in principle has been reached with De Zerbi. They are now working with all parties involved to finalize the details of his appointment and to prepare for his arrival in Marseille in the coming days.

De Zerbi will be replacing Jean-Louis Gasset, who retired at the end of a caretaker spell after replacing Gennaro Gattuso in February. The Italian coach will be looking to bring success to Marseille and help them climb higher in the league standings in the upcoming season.
