Marcus Rashford’s recent poor form has led to him being left out of England’s provisional squad for the European Championship, according to The i’s chief football writer, Daniel Storey. Despite scoring nine goals in 49 appearances for club and country this season, Rashford’s performance did not meet Gareth Southgate’s standards.

Storey pointed out that Rashford plays in a position where England has other talented options, such as Cole Palmer, Antony Gordon, and Phil Foden. With Rashford struggling for fitness and form since February, it was an easy decision for Southgate to drop him from the squad.

This setback could serve as a reset for Rashford, who Storey believes needed a break to refocus and regain his form. At 26 years old, Rashford still has time to bounce back and prove himself on the international stage.
