Mansfield Town’s pursuit of Lewis Brunt reflects their ambition to strengthen their squad and continue their progress in the upcoming season. Despite having their initial transfer bid rejected, Mansfield is eager to secure the 23-year-old defender on a permanent deal. Brunt had a successful loan spell with Mansfield last season, helping them earn promotion to League Two. He made 40 appearances for Mansfield across all competitions.

Negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing, with Mansfield manager Nigel Clough expressing determination to secure Brunt’s signature. Clough mentioned that while their initial bid was rejected, Mansfield is not giving up on trying to bring Brunt back. There is also the possibility of another loan deal if a permanent transfer cannot be agreed upon. Clough highlighted Brunt’s strong performances in League Two and believes he could be worth more to Leicester in the future if he continues to excel in League One.

Following their promotion to League One after a 21-year absence, Mansfield has been active in the transfer market. They have signed Australia midfielder Keanu Baccus from St Mirren, secured full-back Frazer Blake-Tracy, and re-signed striker Lee Gregory, who returns to the club after 13 years. The pursuit of Lewis Brunt reflects Mansfield’s commitment to building a strong squad that can compete at the highest level in League One.
