Manchester United has identified a new center-back as their top priority this summer. The club has been actively seeking players like Jarrad Branthwaite, Jean-Clair Todibo, and Lenny Yoro. However, the most advanced pursuit of Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt seems to be their best bet.

At just 24 years old, de Ligt is already an experienced and successful player who has played for some of the biggest clubs in Europe such as Ajax, Juventus, and Bayern Munich. He has won numerous trophies and represented his country in major tournaments.

De Ligt’s time at Ajax was particularly notable under United manager Erik ten Hag, where he played a crucial role in the team’s defense. In 2019, he captained the team to a league and cup double while also helping them reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Given that ten Hag is familiar with de Ligt from their time together at Ajax, it seems likely that he would be keen on bringing him to Old Trafford this summer for a reunion.
