Manchester United has announced that Erik ten Hag will remain as their manager for the 2024-25 Premier League season, with talks of a new contract extension. After reviewing last season, which saw numerous injuries and an FA Cup victory over Manchester City, the club believes Ten Hag is their best option moving forward.

Despite finishing eighth in the league last season, many speculated a change in management for United. There were rumors of conversations with Thomas Tuchel and Gareth Southgate among others. However, Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS has decided to stick with Ten Hag. Throughout last season, he had to navigate through injuries to key players such as Lisandro Martinez, Mason Mount, and Raphael Varane.

Ten Hag also faced management issues during his tenure at United. Marcus Rashford’s form dipped significantly, and he let go of Jadon Sancho after a successful loan spell at Borussia Dortmund. The defensive tactics used by Ten Hag were not popular among supporters either.

However, despite these challenges, there may be no better options available at the moment than Ten Hag. With an FA Cup win under his belt and potential improvements in player transfers such as Antony, there is hope that things could turn around for Manchester United under his leadership. Only time will tell if this decision will pay off for the club.
