Manchester United are currently in discussions with Jonny Evans regarding a new contract that would see him staying at Old Trafford beyond his 37th birthday. The club is also considering offering a new deal to third-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton, while a contract has been proposed to 19-year-old forward Omari Forson, who may potentially leave this summer.

After confirming the departures of Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial when their contracts expire, the club is looking to make decisions on other players. Brandon Williams has been released after limited playing time in the last few seasons due to loan spells and failed attempts to sell him. With Varane leaving, there may be a greater need to retain Evans, who returned to United last summer on a one-year deal after initially returning to train with the team.

Evans, who considered retirement before rejoining United, quickly became an important player for manager Erik ten Hag due to injuries to other center-backs. Despite starting his career with United and being sold in 2015, Evans made a significant impact upon his return last season and now hopes to continue his stay at the club. He expressed his willingness to stay in an interview before the FA Cup final, indicating that a contract extension would not be a difficult decision for either party involved.
