An accidental hydraulic line strike on a forklift resulted in a machine fire that caused significant damage to MPC Metallurgical Processing in Warren. The fire broke out on Thursday night at 11:30 pm on Warner Avenue near East 9 Mile Road. Quick action by employees in notifying authorities and the prompt arrival of the Warren Police Department helped ensure the safety of all individuals present.

Firefighters were able to quickly bring the fire under control, working tirelessly to extinguish flames on the partially on-fire roof. They remained on the scene for just over an hour before declaring the fire fully extinguished. An initial investigation revealed that a hydraulic fluid leak caused by an industrial machine ignited when a forklift struck a hydraulic line inside the building.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among those involved in the incident, but the building sustained moderate damage as a result of the fire. The cause and origin of the fire are being further investigated to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future. Copyright 2024 by WDIV ClickOnDetroit – All rights reserved.
