In the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, several major companies, including IBM, Bank of America, Microsoft, Sony and others, are facing accusations of patent infringement related to authentication and verification technology. The lawsuits were brought against these companies by a New York-based company called Secure Matrix.

Secure Matrix claims that these companies have infringed on its US patent number 8,677,116, which involves innovative methods for authentication and verification. The company alleges that the defendants have directly infringed on the patent by manufacturing, using, selling and importing products that utilize the patented technology.

The lawsuit also alleges that the defendants have engaged in willful infringement by continuing their infringing activities despite being made aware of the patent claims. Additionally, Secure Matrix claims that the defendants are guilty of induced infringement by selling products that encourage customers to use them in ways that violate the patent.
