A Macomb Township man, Erik Bronkowski, is facing multiple charges after allegedly stealing over $700 worth of bullets from a Dunham’s Sports store in Chesterfield Township. The incident occurred earlier this week and resulted in damage to an emergency exit as Bronkowski tried to flee the scene.

Bronkowski, 26, was arraigned in 42-2 District Court in New Baltimore on charges of possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, assaulting a police officer, second-degree retail fraud, and malicious destruction of property. If convicted on the ammunition possession charge, he could face up to five years in prison, as he is being charged as a habitual fourth offender.

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido emphasized the seriousness of offenses involving ammunition, especially when the individual is legally prohibited from possessing it. The prosecutor highlighted that Bronkowski’s criminal history may impact the outcome of his current charges and potential sentence. His bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety, and he is scheduled to appear in court for a probable cause hearing in June.

This is not Bronkowski’s first run-in with the law. Court records show previous convictions for armed robbery in Shelby Township and possession of methamphetamine. His criminal history may impact the outcome of his current charges and potential sentence.
