Everton’s 26-year-old defender Ben Godfrey has been in high demand from several clubs, including Lyon and Atalanta. The French giants have now made an offer of £10m for the English player, which is below Everton’s valuation of £15m.

Despite interest from Atalanta, Godfrey had shown a preference for a move to Italy. However, with Lyon entering the picture, things have changed. It remains uncertain whether Lyon will come back with a higher offer for the former England international before he enters the final year of his contract at Goodison Park next month.

Godfrey had limited playing time under Sean Dyche last season but has played a total of 93 matches for Everton since joining three years ago. Selling him before the 30th June deadline would be a financial boost for Everton as they continue to navigate their financial situation.
