I recently visited Scottsdale and Paradise Valley, two affluent areas in Arizona that offer luxurious amenities. As a journalist, I was taken aback by the stunning homes, walkable neighborhoods and upscale stores that these Phoenix suburbs had to offer. It made me contemplate the possibility of living there.

During my 48-hour stay in Arizona’s wealthy enclaves, I flew from New York City to Phoenix. Although I had been to Phoenix before, I had never explored the surrounding suburbs of Scottsdale and Paradise Valley. Scottsdale, in particular, has seen a significant increase in wealth over the past decade, gaining more millionaire residents and growing at a faster rate than many other cities in America.

Paradise Valley is located between Scottsdale and Phoenix and is known for its grand estates. It is often referred to as the “Beverly Hills of Arizona.” The area attracts affluent residents such as entrepreneurs, C-suite executives, medical professionals, and young retirees. Real estate agent Shawn Shackelton specializes in luxury homes in Paradise Valley and Scottsdale noted that these suburbs are popular among individuals from various professional backgrounds.

Although I initially reserved about leaving the bustling city life of NYC behind me on this trip to Arizona’s affluent suburbs, my brief stay revealed surprising aspects of the area that made me reconsider my preconceived notions about relocating to a place like these affluent communities.

Despite their differences, both Scottsdale and Paradise Valley offer a unique blend of luxury amenities and stunning surroundings that make them appealing places for those looking for a high-end lifestyle in Arizona.
