In a major milestone for the downstream petrochemical industry, Qingyang Tongxin Petroleum Technology Co., Ltd. has chosen Lummus’ CATOFIN® technology for a new dehydrogenation unit in Qingyang City, Gansu Province, China. The facility will be the first plant of this subsidiary of Xi’An Changqing Tongxin Petroleum Machinery Co., Ltd., focused on upgrading liquefied petroleum gas in the region to produce chemical and refined products.
This announcement highlights the reliability, robustness, and feed flexibility of CATOFIN® technology, established Lummus as a market leader in dehydrogenation technology. Romain Lemoine, Chief Business Officer of Polymers and Petrochemicals at Lummus Technology expressed confidence in their technology being selected for this project stating “Qingyang Tongxin’s selection of CATOFIN for their first plant is a testament to the confidence our customers place in the technology.”
Clariant’s Jace Wang, Head of Propylene and Vice President BU Catalyst also expressed excitement about collaborating with Lummus on this project. He mentioned “Together, we continue to lead the market of on-purpose olefin production with a unique solution that is highly productive and profitable for our customers.” The project scope includes technology licensing, basic engineering, training, and technical advisory services for a unit that will process 300,000 tpy C3/iC4 of combined propane and isobutane feedstocks.
