LSU left-hander Gage Jump led the Tigers to a 5-1 victory over Ole Miss at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field. With this win, LSU secured a spot in the upcoming SEC Tournament in Hoover, Alabama. The game was halted in the sixth inning due to rain and lightning before resuming after a delay of one hour and 39 minutes.

LSU’s record improved to 34-20 overall and 11-17 in the SEC, while Ole Miss fell to 27-26 overall and 11-17 in conference play.

Reliever Griffin Herring earned his fifth save of the season by securing the final two outs with two runners on base. On the Ole Miss side, starter Riley Maddox took the loss after giving up five runs on seven hits in 3.1 innings. LSU took an early lead with Steven Milam’s RBI single in the second inning and later added runs in the third and fourth innings. Michael Braswell III and Tommy White contributed key hits in the fourth inning to extend LSU’s lead.

Despite allowing a solo home run to Judd Utermark in the fifth, LSU maintained control of the game. Coach Johnson commended the team’s ability to come through with clutch hits, particularly with two outs. Overall, LSU’s performance on both sides of the ball secured an important win over Ole Miss.
