Jeanne Swerlin and Harold Terens met in Caen, France in 2021. The couple, both hundred-year-old World War II veterans, are set to tie the knot in the French town of Carentan-les-Marais on Saturday.

Terens was honored on the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings that took place nearby just days before their wedding ceremony. The town hall representative for D-Day commemorations expressed her honor that Terens chose to get married in Carentan, a town with historical significance from the events of World War II.

Following the ceremony, there may be a parade of veterans in Carentan and a liberation ball will be held as part of the D-Day commemorations. Attendees are encouraged to dress in 1940s-themed attire.

Terens, who lives in Boca Raton, Florida with Swerlin, was awarded the French Legion of Honour in 2019. The couple met after being introduced by a friend in 2021. Terens had been married to his first wife for 70 years until her passing in 2018. Swerlin brought new joy into Terens’ life and their love story is heartwarming. In a recent interview, Terens expressed his love for Swerlin saying she lights up his life and makes everything beautiful while Swerlin described Terens as an “unbelievable guy” and praised him as being handsome and a good kisser.
