The education system in Louisiana has made significant strides, as it has improved its ranking to 40th in the latest U.S. News & World Report Best States rankings. This achievement marks the state’s highest position yet and represents a five-spot jump from the previous year. The rankings assess the education journey of students from pre-K enrollment to high school readiness and college preparedness.

The success of this improvement is attributed to the hard work of educators and stakeholders in Louisiana by BESE president Ronnie Morris. He emphasized that collaboration between educators, policymakers, and stakeholders is crucial for driving success in K-12 performance. Morris urged continuous support for students and schools to maintain the positive momentum in education.

Louisiana State Superintendent of Education Dr. Cade Brumley also expressed pride in the state’s progress but acknowledged that there is still more work to be done to ensure a high-quality education for every student. He highlighted the ongoing effort required from everyone involved in education to continue improving outcomes for Louisiana students.
