On Friday night, Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Kiké Hernández made a crucial error during a live television interview on Apple TV while playing against the New York Yankees. The conversation with Wayne Randazzo and former pitcher Dontrelle Willis covered topics such as Hernandez’s colorful cleats and the atmosphere at Yankee Stadium. However, during a pivotal moment in the game, with one out and a 1-2 count on Gleyber Torres, Hernandez made an error while discussing the Dodgers’ close-knit team dynamic.

Unfortunately, the ball hit Hernandez on his bare right hand, and after recovering, his throw to first base was not in time to get Torres out. Despite the error, the conversation continued, and Hernandez even joked about his mistake by asking what the previous question was.

Torres reached third base on a single by Trent Grisham but was left stranded when Jose Trevino struck out. In the next inning, Hernandez himself reached base on an error by Torres but was then picked off by Cody Poteet. The game continued with ups and downs for both teams.

Interestingly, baseball’s collective bargaining agreement offers players who wear a two-way microphone for at least one inning of a regular-season game a stipend of $10,000. This amount increases to $15,000 in the postseason. Despite the error during the interview, Hernandez was able to provide some entertainment and lighthearted moments in what turned out to be an eventful game.
