The Ministry of Transport has assigned the Department of Aviation to seek investors for the construction and operation of aircraft maintenance services at Long Thanh airport. The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has been tasked with inviting bids through open domestic bidding processes as directed by the Ministry.
Two investment projects, labeled No. 1 and No. 4, have been proposed for the construction and operation of aircraft maintenance services at Long Thanh international airport. Each project requires a total investment of 785 billion VND. The anticipated timeline for implementation is around 18 months, with a project term of approximately 24 years and 8 months from the completion of investment. These projects aim to meet the aircraft maintenance needs of airlines operating at Long Thanh airport in its initial phase. Each project is required to service one code E aircraft and two code C aircraft at a time.
The overall scale of investments at Long Thanh airport in phase 1 includes a runway, a passenger terminal, and auxiliary infrastructure to accommodate 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of goods annually. The bidding process for all packages is being expedited with the goal of having the airport operational by the end of 2025. The selection of investors is expected to take place in the second and third quarters of 2024 as per Ministry’s direction.
