The Meta Quest mixed reality headset has received a new accessory that is specifically designed for it – the MX Ink optical pencil or stylus. This innovative device offers precise control for creating content in both two and three dimensions, allowing users to customize its use according to their preferences.

MX Ink is designed to feel like a natural extension of the user’s body, making it easy to use without the need for extensive learning. It introduces a new level of creativity to the Meta Quest experience, enabling users to write, draw, and manipulate virtual elements with ease. The stylus is user-friendly for both right- and left-handed individuals, with customizable parameters such as pressure curve and activation force.

The MX Ink stylus utilizes technology called ‘6 degrees of freedom’ (6DOF) for precise movement in three-dimensional space, along with haptic feedback. It supports wired charging through a USB-C connector and Pogo pin system. Logitech has emphasized that this stylus is the first third-party accessory to be supported by Meta’s mixed reality viewer, allowing users to seamlessly switch between controllers and the stylus during their experience.

The MX Ink stylus is compatible with Quest 2 and Quest 3 headsets and priced at 129.99 euros. It is expected to be available by the end of September, providing users with an exciting new tool for creating content in the Metaverse.
