A Rockford man, Christian Soto, is facing charges of murder in connection with the deaths of four individuals and the attempted killings of seven others in an attack that took place on March 27. However, his arraignment has been postponed by at least a week as he awaits the results of a psychological assessment.

Soto’s attorney, Glenn Jazwiec, has stated that the doctor has not yet submitted the report to Winnebago County Judge Debra Schafer. The results of the assessment were initially expected to be presented to Judge Schafer by March 17 to determine Soto’s mental fitness to stand trial. However, a new date of May 23 has been set for the hearing of the assessment results and for the arraignment to take place.

Court records indicate that Soto initially claimed he had ingested marijuana that was laced with a substance, leading to paranoia and a 20-minute crime spree. The investigation into the tragic events is ongoing, and the community is left mourning the loss of those who were killed. Copyright 2024 WIFR. All rights reserved.
