New Orleans developer and hotelier Joe Jaeger has passed away in a North Shore hospital after sustaining injuries from a crash a few days ago. The exact details of the accident are not yet known, but Jaeger, who was 77 years old, suffered multiple fractures and had been in the hospital for several days before his passing on Sunday morning.

Jaeger, who often referred to himself as “just a plumber from the Ninth Ward,” rose from humble beginnings in New Orleans to become the owner of the largest group of hotels in the Greater New Orleans area. He had more than two dozen properties under his ownership, including well-known hotels such as the Jung Hotel and boutique gems like the Bourbon Orleans Hotel.
