Angel Roeser, a local business development strategist, has announced her candidacy for the District 67 state House seat in Manhattan, New York. This comes after District 67 Rep. Mike Dodson decided not to seek reelection. Roeser is currently the first GOP candidate to run for the position, with Democrat Kim Zito as her main competitor.
On her campaign website, Roeser emphasizes her commitment to being a “strong voice” for District 67 and making decisions based on the needs of the community rather than political party demands. She believes that local control is crucial for addressing unique needs and making important decisions.
Roeser has experience as a business development strategist at Flint Hills Pain Management and serves as a pillar chair for HYPE, the young professionals’ program at the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce. She was born to immigrant parents and spent time in foster care in Lincoln, Nebraska before moving to Manhattan at 18 to attend Kansas State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in human development and family sciences with a focus on personal financial planning.
Roeser has been actively engaging with the community over the past few months, listening to their priorities and concerns. She is married to Joshua Roeser, who serves in the Kansas Army National Guard, and they reside in Manhattan. Roeser hopes to bring fresh perspectives and strong advocacy to District 67 in order to effectively address the needs of the community.
