The recent LIV Golf tournament held in Nashville set a new attendance record for the league’s US events. Over three days, more than 40,000 spectators attended the tournament at The Grove. Sellout crowds of 14,454 on Saturday and Sunday were particularly impressive, surpassing the previous attendance record set at LIV Golf’s Washington D.C. tournament in May.
The Nashville tournament was highly anticipated due to U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau’s participation just days after his dramatic victory. On-site merchandise sales for the first two days of the tournament outpaced any three days of sales at a U.S. event, according to LIV communications. DeChambeau drew massive galleries and interacted regularly with fans throughout the tournament, despite finishing tied for third at 12 under.
On Sunday, Tyrrell Hatton captured the tournament title and a $4 million payout by finishing 19 under for the tournament, six shots ahead of Sam Horsfield. The final round saw a birdie fest as Hatton made eight birdies to secure his win on “the party hole.” Legion XIII won the team competition with a cumulative 40 under and earned $3 million as well.
As the tournament came to a close, DeChambeau’s missed opportunity at the Paris Olympics in 2024 was a topic of discussion among fans and players alike, highlighting yet another exciting aspect of this growing sport.
