Bette Nash, a legendary flight attendant who served for over 60 years, has passed away at the age of 88. She began her career with Eastern Airlines in 1957 and later moved to American Airlines in 1990 when they acquired many of Eastern’s routes.

Nash’s dedication and passion for customer service made her a beloved figure in the industry, and she was known for inspiring generations of flight attendants. The Association of Professional Flight Attendants paid tribute to her online, stating that she will always be remembered as an integral part of their history.

Nash passed away on May 17 in hospice care after being diagnosed with breast cancer. At the time of her death, she was still employed with American Airlines. Her legacy as the world’s longest-serving flight attendant will continue to inspire future generations of airline employees.

In a 2016 interview with CNN, Nash shared that she had always wanted to be a flight attendant since she saw a crew walk by on a plane at the age of 16. She applied for the job after college and went on to have an illustrious career that spanned over six decades.
