In 2005, Audio Pod IP was established and invented several key media streaming technologies. These innovations include segmenting and sequencing streaming files to reduce long download times for large files, bookmarking digital content for easy pausing and playing at a later time, and launching a subscriber-paid streaming service in 2006. The company has now filed three patent infringement lawsuits in the Eastern District of Virginia against Amazon, Amazon Web Services, and Audible.

According to the complaint filed by Audio Pod IP, the company’s inventions have been instrumental in shaping the media streaming industry. The complaint also references a January 2008 front-page article in the Ottawa Citizen to support its claim of early innovation. Overall, Audio Pod IP is seeking legal action to protect their intellectual property rights and accuse Amazon, Amazon Web Services, and Audible of infringing on their patented technologies.
