Following a shocking incident, the Lebanese army conducted an investigation into the matter. The security services in the country tracked down Suleiman’s mobile phone to determine his whereabouts and who he was in contact with. The army’s intelligence directorate was successful in arresting most of the Syrian gang members involved in the kidnapping.

It was revealed that Suleiman had been killed by these gang members while attempting to steal his car in the Jabil area, and his body had been transferred to Syria. As news spread of this, anger erupted towards Syrian refugees in Lebanon, leading to violent clashes between Lebanese Christians in Jabeel and Burj Hamoud.

The Lebanese Forces party found the army’s findings unsatisfactory and insisted that Suleiman’s death was a “political murder until proven otherwise.” In response, authorities in Lebanon announced the arrest of seven Syrians suspected of involvement in the case, including three accused of Suleiman’s murder.
