Silvia Müller, an HR specialist at Novartis, chose to continue working full-time despite being of retirement age. She values the work she does and enjoys the social interaction and knowledge sharing opportunities it provides. Ulrich Brunner, who works at Migros Lucerne, chose to downshift to 80% work instead of retiring completely. By extending his working years, Brunner was able to consider tax implications and align his retirement with his wife’s. The flexibility provided by his employer allowed him to continue working beyond the traditional retirement age.

Maurizio Fedi, a former fitter at Burckhardt Compression in Winterthur, has been working in retirement age for almost four years. Initially hesitant about continuing to work, he eventually accepted a retirement contract that allowed him to work a maximum of two days a week, as needed. This arrangement benefited both Fedi and the company, as he was able to contribute his expertise on a flexible basis.
