Peggy Beasley, the longtime owner of Starlite Drive-In movie theater in Christiansburg, Virginia has passed away. The drive-in, which has been a staple in the community since 1952, is now facing an uncertain future. Despite her passing, the drive-in will continue to operate as usual this season. A management company has a lease through the end of 2024, which has been consigned to Peggy’s heirs. However, there is uncertainty surrounding what will happen to the land and business once the current lease expires.

The community is mourning the loss of Peggy Beasley and remembering her kindness and dedication to the drive-in. Longtime patrons like Phillip McClellan are hopeful that the drive-in will continue to operate. Losing the drive-in would be a loss for Christiansburg and the surrounding area for many in the community.

While there is still hope that a decision will be made to continue operating the beloved theater, for now, movie lovers can still enjoy films at the drive-in every weekend. The legacy of Starlite Drive-In will hopefully live on despite these challenges it faces following Peggy’s passing.
