The Buena Vista Sports Complex in Laredo, Texas, is currently under construction with a budget of $45 million. The project began in August 2022 and is expected to be completed this month. The facility will include 10 baseball and softball fields, as well as two multi-purpose fields for soccer and football.
District 1 Councilmember Gilbert Gonzalez stated that the crews are currently working on leveling the land for the new fields and parking lots. He mentioned that the most challenging part was the land leveling, but now they are making progress with building the fields and parking lots. According to Gonzalez, the estimated timeline for completion is 12 to 16 months from now.
Once finished, the complex will be able to host regional and national tournaments. There are plans for a possible water park in the second phase of the project. Funding for this project comes from the sports venue tax.
