Adam Lallana, a former Southampton player, is on the verge of returning to his hometown team after their promotion to the Premier League. The club secured their promotion by beating Leeds United 1-0 in the Championship play-off final. This marks their return to the top flight after being relegated just a year ago.

Russell Martin’s team has already made a move in the transfer market, securing Taylor Harwood-Bellis from Manchester City for £20m. Lallana, at 36 years old, is likely to be their second signing as he has been in talks for several weeks regarding a move back to St Mary’s once his contract with Brighton & Hove Albion expires.

The midfielder sees this move as an opportunity to develop his coaching career and has hinted at a return to the club where he spent the first 14 years of his professional career. While there are still details to be ironed out in the deal, it is expected to be finalized by the end of the week.

Lallana has spoken openly about his decision to prioritize his family in this next step of his career. He feels that this move is the right choice at this moment in his life and believes it will allow him to be more present for his children, who need him the most at their current ages.

After watching Southampton secure their promotion as a guest at Wembley Stadium, Lallana’s return to the club seems imminent. With 34 caps for England and experiences of success at Liverpool and Brighton, he is poised to bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise back to Southampton, making them even stronger contenders in the Premier League next season.
