The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health recently experienced a phishing attack in February that potentially compromised the personal information of around 200,000 clients, employees, and others. A notice on its website revealed that the email credentials of 53 employees were compromised between February 19 and 20. The employees mistakenly clicked on a link in an email, thinking it was from a legitimate sender.
As a result of the phishing attack, a wide range of information within the staff emails could have been accessed, including client names, dates of birth, diagnosis, prescriptions, medical record numbers, Medicare/Medi-Cal numbers, health insurance details, Social Security Numbers
