The second day of the College World Series kicked off on Saturday with teams from Bracket 2 taking to the field for their first game. On Friday, we saw Tennessee defeat Florida State and North Carolina beat Virginia. This time around, it was Kentucky, NC State, Texas A&M, and Florida’s turn to show off their skills in the ACC and SEC.

In Bracket 2, Kentucky managed to pull off a thrilling victory over NC State by a score of 5-4. The game required extra innings to determine the winner, but Kentucky was determined to make history with their first win in the College World Series. A home run by Mitchell Daly in the 10th inning secured the victory for the Wildcats. The game saw a total of four home runs hit by both teams.

Kentucky got things started with an RBI single from Nick Lopez in the first inning, while NC State tied things up at 1-1 with a single from Jacob Cozart in the third. The score remained even until the bottom of the fourth when Nolan McCarthy hit a two-run home run to give Kentucky a 3-1 lead. NC State came back with a vengeance as Alec Makarewicz hit a two-run home run in the seventh, followed by another wild pitch that brought Garrett Pennington into scoring position.

However, Kentucky refused to give up and Ryan Nicholson hit an opposite field home run to tie things up once again. It was then left up to Mitchell Daly to provide the winning blow with a game-winning homer in extra innings. Kentucky advances in the winner’s bracket and will face off against Texas A&M vs Florida matchup loser while NC State aims for elimination against Texas A&M winner.
