The Kentucky baseball team had a historic first-ever College World Series appearance when they faced off against N.C. State. The Wildcats initially led 3-1, but they found themselves trailing 4-3 as they entered the bottom of the ninth inning. In a thrilling comeback, leadoff batter Ryan Nicholson hit a solo home run to tie the game at 4-4. UK eventually secured a hard-fought victory in 10 innings at Charles Schwab Stadium with Mitchell Daly hitting a solo homer in the bottom of the 10th inning.

The win extended Kentucky’s winning streak to six games, and their last loss was on May 24th when they were defeated by South Carolina in the SEC Tournament semifinals. With a record of 46-14, Kentucky advances to the winner’s bracket and awaits the winner of the SEC matchup between Florida and Texas A&M scheduled for Monday evening.

On the other hand, N.C. State, with a record of 38-22, will play an elimination game on Monday afternoon against the loser of the Florida/Texas A&M matchup. The season will end for the losing team in Monday’s elimination game.
