Kazakhstan and China recently held their first meeting of the Subcommittee on Innovative Cooperation as part of the Kazakh-Chinese Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee. The discussion took place on May 23rd in Astana, with Kazakhstan’s First Vice Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry, Kanysh Tuleushin, and China’s Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, Chen Jiachang, taking part.

The subcommittee focused on several areas of cooperation, including the development of the 5G network, aerospace industry and e-commerce. Both countries agreed to strengthen their collaboration through joint scientific and innovative projects in diverse fields such as space research, microsatellite utilization, agriculture and natural disaster monitoring via remote sensing, digitalization of the agricultural sector, seismic monitoring.

A significant aspect of this agreement was the commitment to nurturing young talent in innovation by initiatives like short-term internships and collaborative scientific projects. The co-chairs also pledged to share information on the latest advancements in scientific and technological innovations in both China and Kazakhstan.
