Manchester United Women announced on Thursday that Katie Zelem, the team captain, will be leaving the club this summer as her contract has expired. Zelem has been a vital member of the team since its inaugural professional team in 2018 and has achieved success during her six years with the side, winning the FA Women’s Championship and the Women’s FA Cup.

Zelem became club captain in her second season and has made a total of 161 appearances, scoring 32 goals. The club expressed their gratitude to Zelem for her contributions and wished her the best in her future endeavors. Her departure follows those of Mary Earps and Lucía García, who have also left United on free transfers this summer.

The team will certainly miss Zelem’s leadership and talent, but they will continue to strive for success in the upcoming season.
