Kansas City Chiefs receiver Mecole Hardman has rejoined the team after agreeing to a one-year contract. The six-year veteran previously signed with the New York Jets as a free agent but was traded back to the Chiefs after only five games with the Jets. In his first season back with the Chiefs, Hardman caught 21 passes for 180 yards, including a touchdown catch in Super Bowl LVIII that helped secure Kansas City’s second consecutive championship.

Drafted in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Hardman has had a productive career with 165 receptions for 2,206 yards and 16 touchdowns in 63 games for the Chiefs. With uncertainty surrounding the status of Rashee Rice due to legal issues, Hardman’s return adds depth and reliability to the Chiefs’ receiving corps.

Hardman’s versatility allows him to contribute in various ways, including returning kicks and punts. In his rookie season, he made the Pro Bowl as a return specialist, showcasing his explosiveness and playmaking ability. With new additions to the receiving group like Marquise “Hollywood” Brown and Xavier Worthy, Hardman’s experience and familiarity with the team’s offense will be valuable for the Chiefs as they aim for another successful season.
