In recent months, Isaiah Buggs has faced multiple legal issues that have resulted in his release from the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad. The 27-year-old, who signed a futures contract with the team in February, was arrested for second-degree domestic violence, second-degree burglary, and two counts of second-degree animal cruelty. Additionally, he was accused of menacing, assault, and a city code infraction after an incident at the Kings Hookah Lounge, which he owns.
Buggs’ agent has denied the animal cruelty charges, stating that Buggs was unaware of the dogs on the property and did not condone their mistreatment. However, this offseason has been tumultuous for the Chiefs as several other players like Rashee Rice, Wanya Morris, and Chukwuebuka Godrick have also faced criminal charges.
Despite his promising career in college football at the University of Alabama where he won a national championship in 2017 and was drafted by Pittsburgh Steelers before joining the Detroit Lions and then the Chiefs. His legal issues now cast a shadow over his future in the NFL as he is no longer part of the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad following his release due to these troubling matters.
