In just one year, fans of the Jurassic World franchise will have a new installment to look forward to. This upcoming movie will serve as a reboot of the series and center around three teens and three adults trying to survive on an island. The film’s star studded cast includes Oscar winner Mahershala Ali, Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Rupert Friend, and Luna Blaise.
The movie will be filmed in Thailand, as well as in studios in Malta and the United Kingdom. Filming in Thailand is set to begin this week and will continue through mid-July with locations including Bangkok, Trang, Phang Nga, Phuket and Chiang Mai. The Huai To Waterfall, part of the Khao Phanom Bencha National Park, will also feature prominently in the film.
Thailand’s Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife and Plant Conservation director-general Atthaphon Charoenchansa expressed gratitude for hosting the filming and emphasized the importance of not disrupting the natural environment. He stressed that strict compliance with laws and regulations was necessary to prevent harm to natural resources and the environment. Authorities hope that the filming activities will be environmentally friendly with minimal impact on surroundings.
Charoenchansa highlighted the example of over-tourism that followed The Beach filming in southern Thailand 25 years ago which led to Maya Bay’s closure. Most scenes in this new Jurassic Park installment will be filmed in a studio or enhanced with CGI to minimize disruption. Authorities have been informed about props such as artificial rocks and have been assured that nature remains untouched by these new film activities
