The Catawba Science Center is excited to announce the launch of a new exhibit, “Expanding Horizons: The Solar System & Beyond,” on July 10. Located in the Hall of Astronomy, just outside the Millholland Planetarium, this permanent exhibit invites visitors to embark on a journey through space and learn about the mysteries of our solar system.

One of the main attractions of the exhibit is a Mars pod that offers an immersive experience for patrons, allowing them to feel what it would be like to live on the red planet. Visitors can explore this simulated Martian environment and gain a deeper understanding of what life on Mars might entail.

The exhibit also includes interactive displays and educational resources that provide information about space travel and exploration. Visitors can learn about the history of space exploration, current missions, and future plans for manned missions beyond Earth’s orbit.

In addition to the new exhibit, the Catawba Science Center is also excited to announce a new planetarium show titled “Destination Mars.” Narrated by former NASA astronaut Mae Jemison, this show takes viewers on a virtual journey through space, culminating in a landing on Mars. The show provides an exciting glimpse into what it would be like to travel beyond our own planet and explore new frontiers in space.
