On Tuesday, the family of former President Jimmy Carter provided an update on his health during the 28th Annual Rosalynn Carter Georgia Mental Health Forum held at the Carter Center in Atlanta. His grandson, Jason Carter, spoke about his grandfather’s current situation, stating that he is still in the same condition as he has been for the past year. Despite this, Jimmy Carter is embracing his circumstances and the time he has left.

Jimmy Carter, who is now 99 years old, started receiving at-home hospice care on Feb 18, 2023. This decision was made after the passing of his wife and former First Lady, Rosalynn, who died in Nov. 2023 at their home in Plains. Rosalynn Carter had been battling dementia before her death. Despite his own health concerns and the loss of his beloved wife, Jimmy Carter has been attending various memorial services to honor her memory.

Jason Carter expressed that his grandfather is accepting of the fact that he is not in control of the process of aging and decline. Despite the challenges he faces, Jimmy Carter is making the most of each day and staying positive. The family continues to provide love and support to the former president as he navigates this difficult time in his life.
