Jim Harbaugh, a former star quarterback for the Michigan Wolverines and current head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, has been inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame. This recognition comes for his career achievements, including winning a national championship with Michigan decades after his playing days.

Harbaugh will be honored at a ceremony on October 17 at the Sound Board Theater in Detroit alongside other former Michigan football players Braylon Edwards, Jake Long, and Larry Foote. Also being inducted are Shawn Respert, Michigan State’s all-time leading scorer in basketball, and former Detroit Tigers Ivan Rodriguez and Cecil Fielder.

Additionally, Deanna Nolan, a former star player for the Detroit Shock, and Tony Esposito, a three-time Vezina Trophy winner and former goaltender for Michigan Tech, will be recognized for their contributions to sports. Edmonton Oilers general manager Ken Holland, known for his Stanley Cup successes with the Detroit Red Wings, will also be inducted as a contributor.

The late Earl Cureton, a former Detroit Pistons player and Detroit Mercy standout, will be honored as a Michigan Treasure. And the late Don Shane, a longtime sports director at WXYZ-TV, will be posthumously inducted into the media category of the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame.
