Jarquez Carter, a defensive line target for Ohio State football, has narrowed down his list of schools to six. The Buckeyes made the cut alongside Florida, Penn State, UCF, Miami, and Florida State. Carter, a 6-foot-2, 270-pound defensive lineman from Newberry high school in Florida, is ranked as a four-star recruit and the 33rd defensive lineman in the 2025 class by On3 Industry rankings.

Throughout the recruiting process, Carter has shown interest in Ohio State by attending the Buckeyes’ November game against Minnesota and making an official visit to Columbus in late March. While Ohio State has secured commitments from edge rushers Zahir Mathis and London Merritt in the 2025 class, they have yet to land a commitment from an interior defensive lineman.

Carter’s decision comes as Ohio State continues to prioritize landing a top recruit for their defensive line. The Buckeyes have had success recruiting top talent on defense recently with recent commitments from Mathis and Merritt. However, they still need to secure a commitment from an interior defensive lineman before signing day next year.
