Japan has been exploring alternative options to the growing push for electric vehicles in the United States, and the automotive industry in Japan has been focusing on hydrogen fuel technology. Through collaboration between the Japanese government and industry leaders, research and development on hydrogen fuel technology have made significant progress compared to domestic efforts.

Toyota, a company known for its support of hydrogen technology, has developed the Toyota Corolla Cross Hydrogen Concept prototype. Based on the Corolla Cross, this vehicle features an advanced hydrogen fuel cell instead of an internal combustion engine. The vehicle is powered by an electric motor, receiving energy from the reaction between hydrogen and oxygen, emitting only water vapor and being environmentally friendly. Each fuel cell stack has the capacity to power a vehicle for up to 300 miles.

Japan aims to invest more in hydrogen energy, seeing its potential not only in transportation but also in power generation, industry, and household use. This investment could help reduce the country’s reliance on imported fossil fuels and promote sustainability.
