In a move to combat counterfeiting and enhance security, Japan has recently released new redesigned banknotes featuring advanced hologram technology. The notes, available in denominations of 10,000 yen, 5,000 yen, and 1,000 yen, have been distributed to financial institutions and are now accessible to consumers through banks and ATMs. This marks the first time in 20 years that Japan has introduced new banknotes.

The new banknotes feature 3D holograms of historical figures who have made significant contributions to Japanese culture and science. The 10,000 yen note showcases Eiichi Shibusawa, known as the father of Japanese capitalism, while the 5,000 yen note features educator Umeko Tsuda, a pioneer in women’s rights. Microbiologist Shibasaburo Kitasato, considered the father of modern medicine in Japan, is honored on the 1,000 yen note.

In addition to the hologram technology, the new banknotes incorporate other security measures to prevent counterfeiting. The 10,
